What electric steer trolling motors can be upgraded with the Re-Action® System?

The Re-Action® System upgrade is available for MotorGuide® Digital Steer and PTSv electric steer trolling motor systems that have a foot pedal as pictured above.

How does the Re-Action® System connect to my trolling motor?

The Re-Action® System components are installed directly into your existing Digital Steer or PTSv foot pedal by an authorized Re-Action® System service center. On the PTSv model, the service center will ask whether you would like the Re-Action® mode activation switch to be the left or right-hand tap switch.

Once the Re-Action® System has been installed into your foot pedal, simply connect the foot pedal cord to the trolling motor as you normally would.

How does the Re-Action® System work?

  1. Turn the Re-Action® System switch to 'on'.

  2. In the 'constant on' mode, select the main throttle speed on the foot pedal for crawling along the shoreline, trolling or holding boat position.

  3. On the 'Compensation Throttle Dial', select how much compensation speed is required to fight back against wind gusts or water currents.

  4. To fight back against wind gusts or water currents, or to 'bump' ahead, press and hold the Re-Action/momentary tap switch and the trolling motor instantly speeds up to the pre-selected compensation speed. The Re-Action® occurs within a half second.

  5. When the gust of wind subsides or the boat is in the desired position, release the tap switch to return to the previous main throttle speed setting.

  6. To return to momentary mode, simply tap your momentary/constant switch to go back into to the momentary mode for tap on/tap off operation.

  7. On the PTSv models, to use the Re-Action® mode with the tracking features, simply;

    1. Set the desired tracking course or depth,

    2. Select the main throttle speed in constant mode for the slow crawl, troll or holding speed,

    3. Pre-set the Compensation Throttle to a higher speed to adjust for wind gusts or water currents,

    4. When the wind or current begins to overpower the course of the automatic tracking system, just press and hold your tap switch and the increased thrust will pull the boat back on course. When the boat is in position, release the tap switch to continue on the pre-set course. Activating the Re-Action® mode while using the tracking features will not cancel the tracking.

Now you have the best features of momentary and constant on modes combined into the 'Re-Action® Mode'...and 5x better boat control!
